How To Choose A Gift They'll Like
Think about what she likes: Clothes, Jewelry, body or face creams, games (PS or even boardgames). Pay attention to what she does when you're together, what movies she says she wants to see, what kind of food she chooses to eat, what colors she tends to wear, what music she tends to listen to. This should give you an idea of her general tastes. If you don't have any idea of what she likes, try asking. But don't make it too obvious that you're asking because you want to buy it for her.
Think about the kind of person she is. Is she someone who cares a lot about brand names, fashion and shopping? Or is she a tomboy who enjoys climbing trees and running around in bare feet? Does she like to cook? Is she obsessed with chocolate? Relate the gifts to what you know about her.
Think about what she does in her spare time and if she has any hobbies you could get her something for. For example, if she's into films, reading, drawing, you could get a very nice sketchbook and pencils from an art store, or a drawing tablet.
Try to recall past conversations to see if she made any hints about presents or stuff she would like to buy.
Consult her friends or her mother. Usually a friend or parent has a really good sense of her tastes from knowing her a long time and would be more than happy to help.
Go out and buy it. If you don't have enough money, buy it for her another time. Or just buy her something else she likes that is not as expensive! It's the thought (and effort) that counts, generally more than the object itself. If she knows you tried your best, then she will still appreciate it.
Sometimes, the simplest things work. Buy her a simple flower, and if you are close to where she lives, leave it on her step. Also leave a little note saying something like "I'm thinking of you" or other nice things. Even if the girl doesn't like flowers, she will like that fact that you're thinking of her and think it's kind of romantic. Roses are pretty, but a little over-rated. Sunflowers are a total yes for almost all girls.

The key thing here is to know what labels SHE likes, as well as her style. You may not have to go high-end but most women will not complain if you do.
However, it is important to note that some girls don't follow fashion trend or brands are, so study her before you get her anything too expensive.
Making her Laugh. Think of jokes you have shared, or memorable experiences. Buy a beautiful card and write down those beautiful words you've shared, she would really appreciate the thought. Something personal like this is great if you are really close.
Teddy bears are cute, but on the gift scale they are 3 out of 10. If you know she loves teddy bears and collects them, or if you have an inside joke about them, then go for it. Otherwise steer clear of stuffed toys.
